Zussamenfassung
Von kaum zu überschätzender Bedeutung in philosophischer, aber auch literarischer Hinsicht, ist Parmenides aus Hyele oder, wie gewöhnlich genannt, aus Elea in Unteritalien (Hdt. I 167), der aus einer wohlhabenden Familie stammte (Diog. Laert. IX 21) und als Naturphilosoph galt. Parmenides’ Akme kann man wohl zwischen 504 und 501 v. Chr. ansetzen.
