Zweifellos gehört Gertrude Elizabeth Margaret Anscombe (1919–2001) zu den großen Gestalten der Philosophie – nicht nur der Ethik – in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Besonders nachhaltigen Einfluss hatten – und haben – zwei ihrer zahlreichen Arbeiten: das Buch Intention (1957) und der Aufsatz »Modern Moral Philo sophy« (1958: CP III, 26–42).
