Zusammenfassung
In der Einführung zu seiner Untersuchung zum Einfluß Poes auf die englische Literatur bemerkt Kühnelt [»Bedeutung«: 5.3.] 1949, daß sich die amerikanische Literaturwissenschaft in Hinsicht auf Poes Werk vor allem an ein Quellenstudium halte und daß es an Arbeiten über den Einfluß Poes auch auf die europäische Literatur fehle [s. auch Schuhmann,»Prosa«, S. 13: 4.3.]. Frühe wissenschaftliche Arbeiten beschäftigten sich jedoch auch mit komparatistischen Fragen, etwa mit der Beziehung zwischen Poes und Baudelaires Werk oder dem Einfluß Poes auf die spanische Literatur. Die Studien von Quinn [»French Face«: 5.4.] über Poes französische, Grossman [»Poe in Russia«: 5.5.] über Poes russische, Kühnelt [»Aufnahme«: 5.7.] selbst über Poes deutsche und Anderson [»Northlight«] über Poes skandinavische Rezeption haben diese Aufgabe darüberhinaus inzwischen weitgehend erfüllt, und viele andere Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit dem Einfluß Poes auf andere Literaturen.
