Zusammenfassung
Bislang wird die Gestaltung von Informationssystemen bzw. Informationsinfrastrukturen einerseits und von Organisationsstrukturen andererseits getrennt voneinander in unabhängigen Disziplinen behandelt. Diese Trennung führt allerdings zu großen Problemen in der Praxis, auf die Taylor auferksam macht443):
„(...) combining Business and software engineering is extremely difficult. The problem is that the two have historically been treated as very different endeavors. The two types of engineering involve different practitioners with different backgrounds using different techniques to achieve different goals. (...) The conventional dichotomy between Business and software engineering inevitably creates frustrating incompatibilities between Business and software, with two systems working in different ways towards different ends. The complexity that results from combining the two discrepant systems may actually lead to chaotic Organizational behavior, in the scientific sense of being inherently unpredictable and uncontrollable.“
