Abstract
Since the evaluation of software for computer-supported cooperative work has to go beyond the standard measures and criteria, it became obvious that new types of data have to be collected. These data should enable a more detailed account of the complex interaction, communication and cooperation processes than it is possible with traditional methods as, e.g. video and observation protocols. In this paper, we present the program LOGAN, a logfile-based analysis of interactions in hypermedia information structures created and modified by a group of people using networked computers. Besides a detailed step-by-step process account, LOGAN provides new ways of aggregating and evaluating these data. The principles and possibilities of LOGAN are illustrated by examples with data collected m an experiment investigating computer-supported meetings of teams in an electronic meeting room.
