Zusammenfassung

Die unmittelbare Kolonialherrschaft über Dominica übte Großbritannien lange Zeit im Rahmen der britischen Windward Islands Federation aus. 1958 wurde dann von zehn britischen Insel-Kolonien die British West Indies Federation mit dem Ziel gegründet, als wirtschaftlich und politisch lebensfähige Einheit von Großbritannien unabhängig zu werden. Nach dem Scheitern dieser Föderation wurde Dominica eine eigenständige Kolonie.
