Zusammenfassung
Die moderne Begabungsforschung ist einer der florierendsten Forschungszweige der Sozialwissenschaften, dem neben Dutzenden nationalen nicht weniger als sieben internationale Zeitschriften exklusiv gewidmet sind. Eine Durchsicht erziehungswissenschaftlicher und psychologischer Literaturdatenbanken zeigt, dass jährlich mehrere tausend Originalpublikationen dem einschlägigen Wissensfundus hinzugefügt werden. Trotz dieser kaum noch überschaubaren Literaturfülle lassen sich unschwer drei zentrale Anliegen der Begabungsforschung ausmachen: (1) Die Identifikation von Begabten, (2) die Erklärung von Leistungseminenz sowie (3) die Förderung der Begabten.
