Zusammenfassung
Als unabhängige Veränderliche werden wie im vorausgegangenen Kapitel die kartesischen Koordinaten x, y, z und die Zeit t verwendet. Dabei weist z stets in den Zenit, x,y kennzeichnen Horizontalrichtungen in der Tangentialebene an die Erdkugel. Der Ursprung liegt im ungestörten Meeresniveau. z = η(x, y, t) kennzeichnet die Meeresoberfläche, z = − h (x, y) den Meeresboden. Bei globalen Betrachtungen müssen allerdings wie in Abschnitt 8.1.3 Kugelkoordinaten verwendet werden.
