Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklungen im unbaren Zahlungsverkehr in Europa sind in den letzten Jahren durch die Vorbereitungsarbeiten auf die dritte Stufe der Europäischen Wirtschafts- und Währungsunion (EWU) gepragt worden. Die Durchführung der gemeinsamen Geldpolitik im Euro-Wahrungsraum erfordert eine entsprechende Zahlungsverkehrsinfrastruktur. Außerdem ist mit Einführung des Euro eine betrachtliche Zunahme des grenzüberschreitenden Zahlungsverkehrs zu erwarten. Selbstverstandlich müssen auch die auf nationaler Ebene betriebenen Zahlungsverkehrssysteme auf den Euro umgestellt werden.
