Zusammenfassung

Die gegenwärtige osteuropäische „Transformation“ ist ein merkwürdiger Prozeß, der nicht nur in die umgekehrte Richtung als die einst von Karl Polanyi beschriebene „Große Transformation“ verläuft, sondern der auch als ein „gewollter“ und „geplanter“ Prozeß gelten kann. Wie der Aufbau des osteuropäischen Sozialismus, so ist auch sein Abbau ein politisches Unternehmen. Der wesentliche Unterschied besteht jedoch darin, daß diesmal das Ziel nicht mehr utopisch ist: Es geht um das Erreichen dessen, was in den westlichen Ländern schon verwirklicht wurde.
