Zusammenfassung

Die jüngsten Veränderungen der ökonomischen Institutionen in den postsozialistischen Ländern sind auf wachsendes Interesse im Westen gestoßen. Gleichwohl ist das Verständnis einer Reihe wichtiger Fragen wenig befriedigend geblieben. Eine von ihnen betrifft zweifellos das Management der Staatsunternehmen und die gegenwärtig ablaufenden organisatorischen Veränderungen als ein (oft nichtintendiertes) Resultat der Privatisierungsprogramme. Das unzureichende Verständnis des Zusammenhangs zwischen institutionellem und organisatorischem Wandel ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß osteuropäische Forscher in gewisser Hinsicht jene Probleme vernachlässigt haben, die sich auf der Ebene der Arbeitsbeziehungen zeigen. Das hauptsächliche Problem scheint jedoch darin zu liegen, daß sich das ehemals etablierte Paradigma vieler westlicher Forscher aufgelöst hat. Das fragliche Paradigma wurde in der komparativen Erforschung von Betrieben und Belegschaften in sozialistischen und kapitalistischen Gesellschaften verwendet (Lane & Dell 1978; Burawoy & Lukacs 1985), war jedoch in der westlichen Debatte um den „Arbeitsprozeß“ entstanden, die ihren Ursprung in Harry Bravermans Buch über die Arbeit im kapitalistischen Produktionsprozeß aus dem Jahr 1974 hatte (Clegg & Dunkerley 1980; Litter 1980; & 1982 Thompson 1983).
