Zusammenfassung

Fraglos gab der November 1992 zu der Hoffnung Anlaß, daß die „Familienkriege“ sich dem Ende zuneigten. Ausmaß und Irreversibilität des familiären Wandels, begünstigt durch das Fiasko des Republikanischen Konvents2 und das Jahr der Frau, schienen die Familienwerte-Brigade bezwungen zu haben, während „the economy, stupid“ (Slogan in Clintons Büro) viele Reagan-Demokraten von ihrem „supply-side fling“ zurückholte. Wer hätte je vorhergesagt, daß sogar die liberale Presse sich darum prügeln würde, das Image des früheren Vizepräsidenten Dan Quayle zu rehabilitieren, noch bevor Bill und Hillary Clinton ihre ersten hundert Tage im Weißen Haus überlebt hatten?
