Zusammenfassung
Das Sammeln und Nutzen menschlichen Körpergewebes — von den Sezierpraktiken des 18. Jahrhunderts bis hin zu den Organtransplantationen des 20. Jahrhunderts — hat Fragen sowohl über die Nutzung von Körperteilen ohne das Einvernehmen betroffener Personen aufgeworfen, als auch über die psychischen, sozialen und religiösen Auswirkungen des Verlustes körperlicher Integrität, und schließlich besonders über die potentielle Ausbeutung der Personen, die als Quelle von Organen und Geweben dienen. Ärzte und Wissenschaftler sind bei ihrem Zugriff auf Leichen und Körperteile der Profitgier angeklagt worden, der Gefühllosigkeit Patienten oder Familienmitgliedern gegenüber und der Verheimlichung unschicklicher Praktiken.
