Zusammenfassung

Der Kapitalismus-Begriff hat eine sehr lange Geschichte; und er hatte schon von Anfang an für viele einen negativen Beigeschmack. Diesen bekam er durch die sozialistischen Denker, die mit der kapitalistischen Gesellschaft den Gedanken einer gnadenlosen „Ausbeutung“ der „Proletarier“ durch die Privateigentümer verbinden. Deshalb ziehen es manche Soziologen (z. B. Aron und Parsons) im Rückgriff auf einen Ausdruck von Auguste Comte und von Spencer vor, anstatt von kapitalistischer von Industriegesellschaft zu sprechen.
