Zusammenfassung
Das Laser-Funktionsprinzip basiert wesentlich auf der stimulierten Emission von Photonen. Diese stimulierte Emission ermöglicht die Realisierung von Sendedioden für Weitverkehrssysteme mit entsprechend hoher Leistung und Bandbreite. Stimulierte Emission hängt eng zusammen mit stimulierter Absorption und spontaner Emission. Diese drei Phänomene werden gemeinsam im nächsten Abschnitt beschrieben.
