Zusammenfassung

Die Geschichte der Begriffe „Krieg“ und „Frieden“ zeigt, wie sehr diese Begriffe inhaltlich immer schon unterschiedlich geprägt waren. Es spiegelt sich in dieser Tatsache der Umstand, daß beide Begriffe gesellschaftstheoretische Crroßbegriffe sind. Großbegriffe sollen ihren Benutzern erlauben, Teilbereiche der erfahrbaren Realität interpretierend zu strukturieren, sich in ihnen zu orientieren, in ihnen bestimmte Ziele zu verfolgen und das Streben nach diesen Zielen normativ zu legitimieren. Indem sie historisch gewordene Größen darstellen, sind Großbegriffe kontextabhängig. Ihre inhaltliche Füllung ist bezogen auf die Funktionen, die sie in einer je bestimmten sozioökonomisch und gesellschaftlich-politisch festgelegten historischen Epoche erbringen sollen. Da sich gesellschaftliche Wirklichkeit im historischen Ablauf verändert, verändert sich auf dem Weg über die inhaltliche Neudefinition der Interpretations-, Orientierungs-, Zielbeschreibungs- und Handlungslegitimationsfunktion des Großbegriffes auch sein Begriffsinhalt!
