Abstract
This article deals with one of Visa International’s larger IT projects — the migration of a multi-regional network from SNA1 to IP2. To understand the context of this project it is necessary to take the general IT structure of Visa International into account (Figure 1). This structure comprises three major components:
-
The Computing Centers including mainframes, enterprise servers and regional servers (OCS: OP3 Singapore; OCAP: OC Asia Pacific, Yokohama; OCW: OC West, San Mateo/CA; OCE: OC East, Washington/DC; OCB: OC Basingstoke, UK and POP4 KeyBridgeHouse, London)
-
the global telecommunication backbone and
-
the Regional Networks (Access Networks).
