Zusammenfassung
Jede Gruppe, Organisation oder Gesellschaft besitzt unterschiedliche Mechanismen, um die Handlungen ihrer Mitglieder aufeinander abzustimmen. Neben hierarchischen Koordinationsmechanismen und Herrschaftsformen sowie ökonomischen Zwängen und Sanktionen spielen für Organisationen soziale Mechanismen, die auf geteilten Denk-, Fühloder Handlungsmustern beruhen, eine wichtige Rolle. Es kann sich dabei um gemeinsame Grundannahmen, Werte, Weltbilder, Normen, Symbolsysteme, Interpretationen und/oder Kommunikationsregeln handeln. Den nachfolgend vorgestellten Strömungen der Organisationskultur, des Organisational Symbolismus und des Organisational Diskurses ist gemeinsam, daß sie die Integration und Koordination organisationaler Aktivitäten, die durch solche sozialen Mechanismen geleistet wird, in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Betrachtungen stellen. Die Trennlinie zwischen ihnen verläuft nicht scharf (auch wenn wir versuchen werden, einige Anhaltspunkte für die Unterscheidung zu liefern), so daß viele Studien durchaus sowohl zur einen als auch zur anderen Richtung gezählt werden könnten. Für die Organisationstheorie kann man grob davon ausgehen, daß sich Organisationaler Symbolismus und Organisationaler Diskurs aus dem zeitlich vorgelagerten Organisationskulturansatz heraus differenziert haben und nun speziellere Fragestellungen untersuchen. Nachfolgend sollen die drei Strömungen zunächst kurz im einzelnen vorgestellt werden, bevor sie dann vergleichend betrachtet werden.
