Zusammenfassung
Zur Lösung von vielfältigen mathematischen und logischen Problemen sind in der heutigen modernen Technik Rechenmaschinen unumgänglich. Verschiedene Maschinentypen teilen sich das große Gebiet ihrer Anwendung entsprechend ihren speziellen Fähigkeiten auf. Interessiert vorrangig das zeitliche Verhalten von meßbaren Größen eines physikalischen Systems, so kann der Analogrechner Anwendung finden. Er verfügt für jede Grundoperation (Integration, Addition, Multiplikation usw.) über je eine Recheneinheit, die zu einer Rechenschaltung verbunden parallel und kontinuierlich arbeitet. Die hierdurch gegebene hohe Rechengeschwindigkeit sowie die einfache Änderungsmöglichkeit machen den Analogrechner für repetierendes Arbeiten interessant. Studien für Reaktoren und in Luft- und Raumfahrt fallen ebenfalls in diese Kategorie. Die Zeit als einzige unabhängige Variable begrenzt die Klasse der auf dem Analogrechner lösbaren Probleme. Ebenso macht sich bei mathematischen Aufgaben die begrenzte Genauigkeit, bedingt durch die analoge Technik, störend bemerkbar.
