Abstract

We utilize services to make our lives easier, more enjoyable, and safer. Typically we think of them as functions performed by others outside or inside the home. Technological changes allow us to achieve some of these goals through technologies and substitute or complement services performed by others. The following discusses some changes related to home information technologies at the interface of home, work, and transactions that affect our lives now and in the future, as well as factors that influence technology adoption in the home.
