Abstract
A fuzzy set A over some universe of discourse χ (which itself is a classical set) is characterized by its membership function μA: χ → [0,1] and often called fuzzy subset of χ. The fuzzy sets will be identified with their membership functions such that the class F(χ) of all fuzzy subsets of the universe of discourse X becomes the class [0,1]χ of all functions f with dom (f) = χ and rg(f)⊆[0,1].
