Zusammenfassung

Innerhalb des komparativen Methodenspektrums nimmt die „vergleichende Methode“ im engeren Sinne einen zentralen, aber dennoch erstaunlicherweise bislang eher vernachlässigten Platz ein (zur Lokalisierung vgl. a. Schaubild 2 in →5 Aarebrot/Bakka). Demgegenüber standen entweder auf relativ großen Fallzahlen beruhende „makro-quantitative“ Verfahren wie die vergleichende Aggregatdatenforschung (→ Niedermayer/Widmaier) oder auf einzelnen oder ganz wenigen Fällen beruhende „konfigurative“ Untersuchungen stärker im Vordergrund.

Dieser Beitrag lehnt sich an einen Aufsatz an, den der Autor zusammen mit Charles Ragin und Gisèle De Meur für das „New Handbook of Political Science“ herausgegeben von Robert Goodin und Hans-Dietrich Klingemann, Oxford, 1996, verfasst hat.
