Abstract

When I was given the honourable task of presenting one of the lectures for this international congress, I was offered the choice of taking for my subject that science with which I have now been principally occupied, namely that of hygiene, or bacteriology, to which I was at one time able to dedicate myself almost exclusively for many years.

Translated excerpt taken from the Proceedings of the Xth International Medical Congress, 1890, In: Schwalbe, J., Gaffky, G. und Pfuhl, E. (ed.): Gesammelte Werke von Robert Koch. Volume 1. Verlag von Georg Thieme, Leipzig, 1912, p. 650 (“Über bakteriologische Forschung”).
