Grundfragen soziologischer Theorie

Zusammenfassung

Zeitgenössische Soziologen haben sich zwar eingehend mit »Theorie« beschäftigt, haben jedoch selten den Versuch unternommen, klarzumachen, was eine Theorie ist. Meine erste Aufgabe wird es daher sein, die Haupteigenschaften einer Theorie zu beschreiben. Danach werde ich auf die Mißverständnisse und praktischen Schwierigkeiten eingehen, die sich bei der Entwicklung von Theorien in der Soziologie ergeben. Als nächstes werde ich die Unterschiede zwischen den Haupttypen soziologischer Theorie untersuchen. Da es wenige Gebiete soziologischer Forschung gibt, die für sich nicht den Anspruch erhoben haben, theoretisch zu sein, werde ich mich auf die vorgeblich »allgemeinen« Theorien beschränken, insbesondere strukturelle, funktionale und psychologische Theorien. Zum Schluß werde ich einige Bemerkungen über die Beziehungen zwischen Theorie und Forschung machen.
