Abstract

New challenges are striking western democracies. But not only western democracies are affected, newly established democracies as well. Before 1989 we could identify very clearly who were the „good“ political systems in the world and who were the „bad“ ones. Liberty, democracy, economic welfare, and social security stood, more or less, on one side, suppression, dictatorship, economic backwardness, and social underdevelopment on the other, with some hybrid systems in between.
