Zusammenfassung
Relationale Datenbanken wurden im Jahre 1970 von E.F. Codd vorgeschlagen. Sie haben seit dieser Zeit nicht nur eine bedeutende Evolution durchlaufen, sondern sie haben sich im wesentlichen als ein Konzept von hoher Stabilität und Invarianz gegen Modeentwicklungen erwiesen. In dieser Arbeit werden einige Highlights dieser Evolution skizziert, und es wird aufgezeigt, worin der Erfolg des relationalen Ansatzes begründet ist.
