Abstract

In response to the growing demand for educated professionals focusing on multimedia related industry, the University of Rostock developed a new specialisation in media technology in 1995. Although the engineering department at the university has long conducted research regarding the organisation, processing, transmission, and representation of multimedia data, these issues are now formally covered in lectures and coursework offered by various faculty within the engineering department.
