Zusammenfassung
Wie in den vorangegangenen Jahren hielt der erbitterte innenpolitische Machtkampf zwischen dem Lager der Reformer um Präsident Mohammad Khatami und dem der Konservativen den Iran (I.) in Atem. Dabei gerieten die Reformer aber immer mehr in die Defensive. Hatten die Reformer bereits ab 2000 erhebliche Rückschläge hinnehmen müssen, erlitten sie in den am 20.2. durchgeführten Wahlen für das 290köpfige Parlament eine weitere empfindliche Niederlage, die sie der Kontrolle über die Legislative, dem neben der Exekutive zweitwichtigsten von ihnen dominierten Machtzentrum, beraubte.
