Zusammenfassung
Der Dieselmotor ist ein Selbstzündungsmotor mit innerer Gemischbildung. Die für die Verbrennung benötigte Luft wird im Brennraum hoch verdichtet. Dabei entstehen hohe Temperaturen, bei denen sich der eingespritzte Dieselkraftstoff selbst entzündet. Die im Dieselkraftstoff enthaltene chemische Energie wird vom Dieselmotor über Wärme in mechanische Arbeit umgesetzt.
