Citrat- und Malatexsudation sowie Aktivität der sauren Phosphatase bei Brassica napus L.

Rhizodeposition und Stoffverwertung

Abstract

Citrate and malate exudation and phosphatase activity was investigated using four rape cultivars grown in nutrient solution containg 5, 20 or 80 μm KH2PO4. A moderate phosphate deficiency (20 μm KH2PO4), which had no effect on shoot dry matter and root/shoot ratio, increased exudation of citrate and malate. With high phosphate deficiency (5 μm KH2PO4) root/shoot ratio was strongly increased, while citrate and malate exudation were low. Acid phosphatase activity increased with decreasing phosphate supply and the extent of these reactions was cultivar specific. Interactions between phosphate and iron deficiency were also assessed. Citrate exudation was increased both by phosphate and iron deficiency. However, the combination of low phosphorus and low iron did not increase citrate exudation further. The enhanced activity of acid phosphatase with iron starvation is considered as a unspecific stress reaction. It is concluded that phosphorus deficiency may improve the iron availability and vice versa.
