Atlantoaxial Joint Pain

Abstract

The atlantoaxial joint (AAJ) is crucial for axial rotation of the head. It is susceptible to pathology from both inflammation and trauma, and is commonly implicated in cervicogenic headache. This chapter reviews anatomy of the AAJ as well as evaluation and treatment of AAJ pathology.
