Management of Postoperative Infections

Postoperative wound infection after instrumented spinal surgery is still one of the most common complication in spine surgery. It affects the clinical outcome negatively, makes operative debridement necessary and often even multiple revisions may be required, can lead to chronic pain and deformity, extends hospitalization and is therefore also responsible for higher treatment costs.
