Abstract

Esophageal perforation is a surgical emergency. Anatomy allows for distinct classifications to cervical, thoracic, and abdominal perforation and manifestation of symptoms which direct care. Authors provide quick review of presentation and appropriate imaging/endoscopy. Clinical presentation directs patient care from conservative management to emergent surgical intervention. Operative options are briefly discussed.
