Abstract

In the concluding chapter for the volume, Bourn re-visits his motivation for writing the volume in terms of moving the debates on skills forward to more fully take account of the importance of globalisation. He states that global skills for professions need to be seen as much more than 21st Century skills, rather in enabling people working in professions to be able to respond to the challenges globalisation brings them in their daily lives.

Finally, the concluding chapter emphasises the importance of global skills as skills for life; and that people working in professions need to have not only people related skills but skills that can enable them to make a positive contribution to global social change.
