Abstract
Hurricanes and typhoons are slowly developing disaster scenarios, thus, allowing the population, prehospital emergency response systems, and hospitals to prepare prior to storm impact (Fig. 24.1).
A hurricane disaster passes through three distinct phases:

Prearrival and preparation phase: 1–7 days prior to impact

Hurricane impact phase: 12–48 hours

Posthurricane rescue and recovery phase: 1–4 weeks
During the prearrival phase, injuries are related to evacuation and preparation activities. Falls from ladders during window shutter installation, interpersonal violence, and motor vehicle crash-related injuries are prevalent.
