Abstract
The umbilical cord carries the blood, nutrients, oxygen and fluids necessary for intrauterine life and so it is not surprising that umbilical cord abnormalities are associated with adverse perinatal outcome. Perinatal complications have been reported with both excessively long and excessively short umbilical cords.
