Abstract

Caring for mesothelioma patients during and after immunotherapy treatment is complex and requires incredible expertise and knowledge about immunotherapy and its potential toxicities. Caring for mesothelioma patients requires an interdisciplinary team of experts as well as a nurse experienced in caring for mesothelioma patients. Mesothelioma-specialized nurses provide a necessary layer of communication and support when patients are treated with immunotherapy on clinical trials and deliver the high level of care and coordination necessary for these patients. Immunotherapy has a very different profile of toxicities and requires nursing as well as a team of specialists to appropriately treat and resolve those toxicities.
