Abstract

This chapter focuses on the rich history and culture of independent and experimental animators who have made a significant contribution to the history of animation in Australia, surveying a large number who have worked between the 1960s and the present day. Arguably, it is within these independent animations that one can also witness some of the strongest expressions of Australian culture and thematic content.
