Abstract

The growth of social involvement in the projects of development of public space has recently been noticeable in Poland. Social involvement takes place on a few levels. There may be social participation, in which citizens are invited to conversations related to projects and their demands may be taken into consideration as well as civil projects (participatory) in which citizens suggest projects, their ideas and solutions. Company funds and small grants constitute an entirely new model. The communities participate in preparing the project; decide about exploiting new places as well as they participate personally in their execution. All can be important factors integrating local communities. The aspects of implementation such projects in Poland are discussed in the paper.
