Abstract

The experience with the operation of column ties shows that seals are the least reliable elements. In the event of failure of the seal, the column stringing ceases to be operable, the inter-tube spaces are impervious, and the danger of an accident of oil and gas wells increases. In recent years, certain trends have emerged in the design of the seal assembly. However, specific initial data and special, difficult-to-fulfill requirements for the design and operating parameters of the seal assembly (significant marginal deviations in the size of the sealing gap, possible and roundness of the casing, eccentricity of the sealing surfaces, etc.), severe operating conditions, limited space for the sealant, and other requirements show the complexity of solving this problem. Therefore, the study of sealing units of column ties is an urgent task and requires extensive research and development work under different conditions (high pressure and temperature) of their operation.
