Abstract

Does online finance promote the efficiency of science and technology output in a region? In this paper, data envelopment analysis model (DEA Model) is used to evaluate the output efficiency, and online financial development level and technology output of Chinas 31 major cities are used as input and output indicators respectively. We find that the comprehensive technical efficiency of Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou is 1, and the pure technical efficiency of Chongqing, Shenzhen and Shijiazhuang is 1, i.e., the input and output of the first three cities are in a relatively balanced state, and the latter three cities achieve the maximum output under the given input. Then, we use Tobit Model to analyze the factors that affect the comprehensive technical efficiency, and we find that the total GDP, financial institution strength and financial ecological environment of a region significantly affect the comprehensive technical efficiency, i.e., the local government can change the efficiency of science and technology output by changing the above three factors.
