Abstract
The United Kingdom (UK) is a sovereign state that includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Its approach to governance has strong historical relevance; it permeates the 53 members in the Commonwealth of Nations (formerly the British Commonwealth) and was influential in the founding of the USA. Two of the ten nations assessed in this book—Ghana and India—are members of the Commonwealth, and two more—Egypt and the USA—were also governed by Britain at one time. The UK has strong cultural and economic ties to both the USA and the European Union (EU).
