Abstract
This chapter focuses on a real-world application of HARPA in the embedded system domain. In particular, the application consists in bringing intelligence to the field of landslide and rockwall/rockfall monitoring by creating a battery-powered smart bridge for the Beesper network able to process data remotely, using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, collected using the wireless sensor network (WSN) and on-site cameras.
This chapter also provides an analysis of the impact of HARPA on system performance (like uptime and quality of service) when the energy availability is changing. The system has been deployed for almost a year-long period in a real-world scenario.
