Chronic Headache

Abstract

Chronic daily headaches are a significant source of disability within the pediatric population. The classification of chronic daily headaches is similar to adults, with chronic daily headaches encompassing chronic migraine, chronic tension headache, and new daily persistent headache all with or without medication overuse. There is little high-quality research to help guide management of this group of patients, particularly the very young under the age of 12 years. However, there are still standard principals of management that can help address the severe impact these headaches can have on the patients and their caregivers.
