Abstract
Burns are generally described as tissue damage by thermal injury. Millions of people around the world suffer from burns and many die from it. Proper treatment requires an understanding not only of the local injury, but also of the haematological, nutritional and the immunological derangement that occurs in burns. A proper assessment of the burn injury includes the area and the depth of the burn.
