Abstract

As discussed at the end of Chap. 4, Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement. Their techniques, originally developed by Motorola in the 1980s, are being used by many industries throughout the world. The Six Sigma steps applicable for green IT and sustainability are:

  1. 1.

    Define

  2. 2.

    Measure

  3. 3.

    Analyze

  4. 4.

    Improve

  5. 5.

    Control

Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.
