Poly-L-Lactic Acid for the Neck

Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Procedures

Abstract

Neck rejuvenation is a great challenge, because there is a lack of minimally invasive techniques capable of offering results equivalent to those obtained with surgical alternatives such as a neck lift. Besides that, thinness of the dermis, variable accumulation of subcutaneous fat, and small number of cutaneous annexes make procedures in this area liable to a greater risk of complications (Mazzuco).

Poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) is an effective method of restoring volume while maintaining a very natural appearance (Redaelli, Vleggaar). It has been used off-label in the neck (Lorenc), and good results and fewer numbers of complications result from dilutions around 20 ml.
