Abstract
Scar formation is the normal outcome of the wound-healing process of traumatic skin injuries, including surgical procedures. Depending on the exact process, scarring can lead not only to poor aesthetic outcomes but also to a variety of adverse functional consequences, such as impairment of the lip, eyelid and nose functions [1]. Minimizing scarring from surgical and aesthetic procedures is an essential goal of dermatological procedures, and it only can be achieved with proper preoperative planning, optimal operative techniques, and proper postoperative care.
