Designing Documentary Videos in Online Courses

The present study describes a new educational methodology conducted in educational programs through the elaboration of documentary videos by students. This project links the field of academic research with the acquisition of skills for the labor market. The monitoring of the guided project is based on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) and e-learning. Participants were undergraduates students (n = 37) from the University of A Coruna (Spain). The final presentation of these videos is uploaded to the Moodle platform, the most widely used Learning Management System (LMS) in the world, which allows all students to discuss the results of each partner and reach a global perspective of group work in the form of social network, by virtual chats. An achievement questionnaire was used to put forward their learning performances. Results show the benefits gained from conducting student research activities in an online environment in terms of self-learning, cooperative experience and other labor market skills by students.
