Abstract

The Palaeontological Museum Nierstein was established by Arnulf Stapf. The exhibition is supported by the town Nierstein and hundreds of collectors, who have donated some of their best fossils from localities in Europe.

The excavation activities are documented in spectacular individual objects as well as in a large collection of small fossils like hundreds of permian insects and their tracks in the mud. Beside the professional focus, the fossils of the Saar-Nahe Basin, a chronological summary with fossils from the Cambrian to the Tertiary is shown.
